Dennis Smith had a long and very successful career as a San Francisco Architect and has decided to begin his second career as an artist in Napa, CA. His artistic skills have been refined under the tutelage of Larry Robinson, a renewed Bay Area instructor, over the past 25 year. Dennis' painting style can be best described as eclectic, as his images range from realistic to abstract impressionism.
Dennis begins the process with an image, either from his travels, a photograph that catches his fancy or a fleeting vision in his mind. He will then create a drawing of the image and paint that image until the painting speaks to him. It is then that the picture becomes a painting. The mistakes, the drips and the texture of the paint will make the image come alive on the canvas. The final painting may ot may not be a "pretty" picture but it will always be what it wants it to be.
